MFWA DAY #4 Sai Suman, Julia Boikova & Marco Parascandolo

SAI SUMAN

'Exotic Jungle'

Sai Suman is an Indian fashion designer that has showcased her fiery and dramatic collection for us last Tuesday. Her collection was inspired by an Australian jungle theme which was clearly seen through the show's tribal background music and all of the garments specially crafted representing flora and fauna. It seemed almost as if the models were all given an animalistic character to portray, with their individual walk and gaze, all powerful but some slow and elegant, others gave off a bold, fiery vibe and some even close to superior. The fashion pieces reflected this throughout the show too.

It can be seen from the photos below that a couple of accessories like the male headdress were repeated throughout the collection, perhaps representing that many of the models were from the same "species" yet still had a different "coat". It can be said that Sai Suman has really gone that extra mile with her collection - the love relationship between texture and colour in her garments is spectacular. All we can do is wait for more to come from this talented Indian designer!

JULIA BOIKOVA

'Ropes and Dots'

The next collection was by Julia Boikova. I would describe the theme as sport luxe, in which all models had their hair braided backwards and wore stylish sportwear. The common denominator in Julia's collection was her statement pattern of rope in different colours, positions and layers, mirrored on both sides to create perfectly symmetrical garments - a balance in life through exercise I suppose? That's just my take on it, however the models and music brought about a sense of assertiveness and dominance and I think that is exactly what this collection is, it's bold and what you see is what you get: extremely wearable off-the-runway looks.

MARCO PARASCANDALO

'In the sky'

I was pleasantly surprised by Parascandalo's new collection this season. The reason is because we all know that he is specifically known for his graphic tees with maltese slogans, I expected to see a new collection which was perhaps very similar to what had been done, just with some more new slogans and different textures, however I could have not been more wrong! Marco has blown me away with this season's collection - a splendid use of lines and shapes, and personalised accessories in some of his outfits, such as the 'parascandalo' collar pin and denim patches pinned onto garments with stud pins.

The bird t-shirt was quite a staple within the show as was classic tailoring for many of the men's pieces. Can't wait to see what Marco will be up to next and I will meanwhile be looking forward to his next collection.

...And that's where the night ended for me! Unfortunately I could not add my outfit of the day to this post since I am writing all the way from Rome as we speak! However I will be back in no time with many updates and of course a post of my Roman trip! ♥
