Summer is just around the block and we are now more than happy to be wearing skin-flaunting clothing in the warm breeze with lots of bright accessories and natural, glowing skin. Dive into the fashion world and see what colours and lines are swimming around in here for our make up and beauty looks for Summer 2015! For the ones that are ready for a head start, here's my top wearable Summer beauty trends that everyone's following this season!

1. FLASH TATTOOS/METALLIC TEMPORARY TATTOOS

Flash Tattoo Trend

Mimi Elashiry with Flash Tattoos

This it the biggest trend out there right now has to be top 1 on this list! This trend actually became rather big last year in America and Australia, and it has since come to Europe and Malta and many friends and acquaintances have been asking what these tattoos are, whether they are permanent, how they are applied and where they can buy them from here on the Maltese islands. Luckily, I am here to answer your questions.

Since it is a fairly new trend in Malta, it unfortunately cannot be found anywhere like the typical henna which is much more common, therefore, if you are settled on getting a metallic temporary tattoo, then all you have to do is find your favourite designs, buy them and apply them. It works exactly like the temporary tattoos we used to get as surprises in sweets when we were children - adding some water, leaving it to set for 10 minutes and peeling off, and voila' you have some beautiful skin jewellery/make up. It can last up to 1-2 weeks but you have to be very careful with it and not scrub your skin too much in the specific area or else it can come off much sooner.

It's great to be able to experiment with these tattoos since some are statement designs and others are dainty lines and crosses that could be added to look like rings, bracelets, arm cuffs and necklaces. I would recommend buying them online because foreign websites seem to have a much wider variety in styles, sizes and shapes of these temporary tattoos. I would have a look at Lulu DK, Tattly, ShimmerTatts and Flash Tattoos. If you are not keen on purchasing items online, then Parfois in Valletta have a basic set that can help you decide if this trend is for you.

2. NATURAL BARELY-THERE MAKE UP

Natural Make Up Look

Next up is our most natural look. This is an easy-to-wear look for hot Summer days, however it has to be done right. The most important factor with this look is the condition of the skin, so your skincare routine has to be spot on, as well as drinking lots of water to keep yourself and your skin hydrated. Skin has to look fresh and dewy, with just enough colour to bring out your best features. There are multiple ways of going about this particular look, some include a never-ending list of products, however today, mine is probably the most basic look you can find, and the easiest to wear if you are in a big rush to go off somewhere. I would stick with these 3 steps :

1. Moisturize your skin with tinted moisturiser (preferably with added SPF to protect your skin against the sun's rays!) to give your skin the moisture it needs while also giving slight coverage to any blemishes and/or pigmentation you may have. Once done with this, add a little bit of cream blush or bronzer, whichever you prefer.
2. Add a light coat of mascara to darken and lengthen your eyelashes and,
3. Slick on a protective SPF lip balm on your lips for a pretty glowing sheen...

... and that should be it! If you tend to have oily skin then I would recommend sticking with powder-based products rather than liquid and cream. On the other hand, if you tend to have dry skin during the Summer, I say go for liquids and creams instead of powder-based items, to make your skin look even more hydrated, you can add just a hint of highlighter to your moisturizer to give it that extra glow.

3. BLUE ON THE EYES

Cara Delevingne

Elie Saab Make Up Look

Let's step it up a notch! Blue is the new black. This look is all about expressing yourself and your individuality while representing a woman who is not scared to try something new and its definitely seen as optimistic and fun. The blue colour can be used in any way that you like, either as a mascara or eyeliner as seen on Cara Delevingne and every Elie Saab's model above respectively, or even as blue leather strips as seen in Fendi's latest shows. The trend has been seen on catwalks for Fashion Weeks all over the world for this Spring/Summer 2015, and it is beyond a beautiful colour for any eye, especially brown-eyed beauties everywhere.

Since there are a variety of blues that can suit you, it would be best to research what skin tone you have and what colours to wear best with your eye colour. The shape of your eye also makes a huge difference when it comes to creating an eye look so definitely have a look into this and choose what would be the best option for you. I recommend 3 blues which would most likely suit everyone and that's : Teal, Neon Blue and Navy.

4. RED LIPS

Kendall Jenner

One of my all-time favourites is the red lip. Both spanish reds and ruby reds were seen on the runways for this spring/summer from Carolina Herrera to Trussardi and Dolce&Gabbana. I think it looks extremely sophisticated and pretty much suits everyone I know and both matte and shiny looks were seen, so feel free to choose any texture of your preference. I personally love moisturising tinted balms for their (obvious) moisturising effect, mattes (for the non-shiny effect) and lip stains because they look rather natural so to speak, and don't transfer onto glasses and clothing. However, a glossy finish can look extra chic on a night out paired with shimmery gold eyes, so consider all options, and go for the one you like best.

5. THE CLASSIC SMOKEY-EYE

Roberto Cavalli

Guy Laroche

Last but not least, the classic smokey-eye comes along in full swing with sensual shades of black, brown, mauve and grey to suit everyone's complexion. This is a perfect look if you want the attention drawn to your eyes. All the smokey looks differed in every show from natural-looking to extremely intense, and so this gives us the freedom to really experiment with any smokey-eye look we want to go for this Summer. Mauve was a big statement colour at Guy Laroche and really brings out the green in hazel eyes, so if there are any hazel-eyed ladies reading this, give it a try and see if it helps!

That's it for my top beauty trends for Summer. I am aware that there are many more common looks that were seen on the runway such as exaggerated cat eye looks and colourfully-dyed eyebrows, however I wanted to keep this list wearable to the general public. If any of you have any questions regarding make up application, product suggestions, etc. feel free to ask and I will answer asap, besides that I will be back with more beauty posts in due time, until then keep an eye out for a Roman post headed your way.
